Week 2 of our photographic journey of 52 weeks of photo prompts.
This week's prompt is to illustrate our word for the year.
Funny, I have never chosen a word for the year like I have seen so many people do, but decided to pick one for this year.
My word for the year is reconnect.
You can read all about the importance of that word for me in my New year's blog post here.
To illustrate it my first thoughts were to find an image of an actual connection, like electrical but then I had the idea for the card, to signify corresponding and reconnecting to family and friends and all that is important to me.
Head on over to The Studio Sublime to see what everyone elses word for the year is and how they photographed them.
P.S. I will be out of town when this posts and will visit everyone as soon as I return!
What a wonderful word for the year. Growing up our family connected with friends, neighbors, and members of our church every weekend in the form of gatherings or card parties etc. When my husband and I married we carried on this tradition for many years. But since the arrival of so many electronic gadgets and games, and the attempt to have children in every sport or activity available we have found this connecting with friends looks to be a think of the past. I sure miss it, but I'm glad I have all my blog friends to connecti with!
ReplyDeleteSome handwritten notes look like a wonderful idea. Hope we get a chance to reconnect soon!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to your worked reconnect. It is a great word and wish you luck in that endeavor.
ReplyDeleteLove the photo and the soft effect! And going back and reading your post, it's a fantastic word. May you remember 2013!
ReplyDeleteAlice above touched on something in her comments...the "electronics". As easy as it should be to stay connected, it seems emails, especially, are sent for the smallest of messages. My telephone hardly ever rings anymore! I miss cards and letters. Your post is resonating with me. I hope you reconnect this year..I hope I do, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat word! Love it amd your picture too!
ReplyDeleteReconnect, huh? What a wonderful word for this year...
ReplyDeleteReconnecting with friends and family that I have not kept in touch with is on my agenda for this year also. Good word.
ReplyDeleteI read your New Year's post and can see that this word comes from your heart. For a myriad of reasons I feel like I lost last year too. Reconnect is a wonderful word for the year. I wish you all the best on your quest and hop you have a memorable year!
ReplyDeleteReconnect...a word filled with love! Laura, I love the photo you took it captures your word beautifully! I hope your find the time you need to conquer your quest!
ReplyDeleteI like this word. Connections get lost over time and distance, and this word gives you the power to reestablish them, to make new ones. And it will also give you a support system for pursuing your next dreams. I wish you joy in the journey in 2013. Enjoy the day. Erin
ReplyDeleteI really adore your photo. The card and the bit of your fingers holding the pen are wonderful together. Your word is beautiful and I know you will be able to reconnect this year.
ReplyDeleteMy word for last year was "Connect" so I understand what a great effect it can have on your life. Lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteLaura, I do hope to reconnect with you again soon! Seems like time has been flying by so fast, it gets difficult to connect with one another.... one blink and it is already mid-January!!! How did that happen?? I hope all is well on your end and that 2013 will bring much happiness, good health, and many fun adventures. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your heartfelt comments. Since getting home I am trying to get around to all the posts from last week so I hope you'll forgive me if I can't respond to each individual comment here. I would rather spend the time visiting each of your posts individually and seeing what words you all have chosen for the year! Hugs,Laura
